Today I’ll be providing a brief overview of laFraise. The name means strawberry in French, and the website is offered in several languages (French, German, and English). They proclaim themselves as “Europe’s biggest T-Shirt design competition.” Each week several designs are chosen from among the hundreds submitted. Chosen designs are then available for purchase on the site in limited quantities. The shop itself ships to most European countries, but sadly they do not ship outside of Europe (including United States). Hopefully this will change in the future, because they have a lot of great designs by many talented individuals.
Regardless of your country of residence, anyone can enter their contests. Their contest style is very similar to Threadless. Once you upload a design, it will go on the site for 7 days of voting. Once the voting is over the designs get placed into the voting ended category. It is here that laFraise decides which designs to choose. Their decision factors in the overall score, user comments, and their own personal taste. You won’t need a high score to be chosen, and conversely a high score won’t guarantee that you are chosen either. Once a design is chosen they contact you, and in under a month you’ll be 1,000 euros richer and your design available for all to purchase! You can find more information about this process, and template files for you to download, at the submit page of their website.
If you are lucky enough to live in one of the countries laFraise provides shipping to, you can further benefit from their affiliate program. Instead of receiving money for referrals, you receive Brouzoufs. For every 100 Brouzoufs you obtain, you can take one euro off of any order. You can also receive Brouzoufs for winning games, or having your birthday!
I encourage you to check out laFraise. It’s a unique site that provides great opportunities for shirt designers, and great shirts for consumers. If you have any more questions feel free to contact me, or check laFraise’s frequently asked questions page.
