In my previous post 5 Shirt Related Ways To Make Money Online, I mention using shirt design contests as a way to make some extra cash. When I first decided to write this article I was going to write about any contest sites that I could find. I was surprised to discover that there were more of these sites than I could possibly cover in one article. Instead of covering as many as I could, I decided to focus on just ten of the best.
Go vote for “Harold vs. the Simian Seven” at Threadless. I love shirts that tell a story, and this design is an excellent example. The monkeys are illustrated nicely, each one is an individual. You can feel the rage washing over Harold, as countless moments of ridicule bubble to the surface.
This is a much different take on yesterday’s “green” themed post! Spreadshirt is running a St. Patrick’s Day Sale until March 12th. Customers will receive 17% off of any order that is over 25 dollars. As always, they have a large selection of themed graphics if you’d like to make a custom design. If you don’t want to design your own you can take your pick from their St. Patrick’s Day marketplace.
Brand of the Free is a shop that makes t-shirts with organic materials. Their shirts are made entirely in the United States, and free shipping is provided in 100% recycled envelopes. Even the materials used in the production of the shirts are grown within the United States. All of this combines to make a very “green” company, a trend I’ve been seeing a lot lately in many industries.
In this new shirt from SplitReason, Super Mario Brothers and the Ghostbusters meet in glorious t-shirt form. “Boo Busters” takes the iconic Boo and combines it with one of the main lines of the Ghostbusters’ theme song. The result is a shirt that defines a generation. That might be going too far, but it sure does look cool.
Hokusai would be happy with “New Wave,” a re-imaging of his extremely famous woodblock print “The Great Wave Off Kanagawa.”
I’ve just discovered a new t-shirt shop called Walkie Talkie. They just released a new shirt which is very indicative of their overall style. That shirt is “this is not a drill.” All of their shirts contain a simple image with a short funny phrase. I like these kinds of shirts because they make most people laugh, as long as they understand the joke. If they don’t get the joke it’s even funnier for those that do.
“Mandrillus Sphinx” is a new design on Threadless by Rafael Bastos. It features a furious Mandrill. The design was done over the course of three days, and completely by hand. If I hadn’t known that I would think it was created by a perfect maze creation algorithm and then colored in. Even though I wish it was slightly smaller, it’s a unique take on shirt design that I have not seen before.
I’ve just been informed that Spreadshirt has announced a Spreadshirt Bootcamp. The Bootcamp will be done as a webinar and will focus on teaching new users the Spreadshirt shop interface. You will be able to interact live with the instructor while you and others are taught specifics. I have been asked several times on how to do things in Spreadshirt’s interface, so this will be a great help to people looking to become comfortable as a Spreadshirt partner.
Always Urban is a unique site which allows people to vote for brands instead of individual shirts. They are currently running the first Always Urban Brand Battle, each of which will for two weeks. There are four brands to vote on, and the winner becomes part of Always Urban’s selection. Each brand has six shirts, and each voter will receive a 15% off discount code!
