Bodybuilding shirts aren’t something I would typically blog about, but I had to make an exception for MuscleFire. A few things jumped out at me about them, in particular the quality of their designs. Their primary logo, the MuSkull, is a great illustration and I would wear it even if I was nowhere near a free weight.

A portion of the proceeds from each shirt go to the Wounded Warrior Project, a charity focused on the needs of severely injured service men and women. This is a trend I’ve been seeing lately that I think is a great way to provide additional incentive to consumers. Also packaged with each order are samples of various sports supplements, and even a small surprise that I won’t ruin for you!

They’ve just updated their website and I enjoy the new look. Their selection seems small at the moment, but they also have female clothing and some non-apparel items as well. I hope they add to their designs because the illustrator is really talented. My only gripe is the high price of the shirts, but the quality of the designs still make them worthwhile.

Light has always been really fascinating—the way it forms negative space, questions figure/ground relationships, and has such beautiful form. Fireworks, flashlights, sparklers, even fluorescent lighting—it changes the way we view things, what we can and cannot see.

I’ve recently had a request to take a look at a shirt from Pyrotechnic Display at Celebrations, or P.D.A.C for short. They only have one shirt available but it looks great! It’s based off a photograph of a firework, and the result is like nothing I’ve ever seen. It’s especially interesting to hear the story behind the design and the site in general.
The quote included in this post really shows the expressive nature that t-shirts allow their artists to showcase and provide for all others to enjoy. The owner said they’ll have more designs in the future, and if they’re as good as this one I’ll be very interested in seeing it.

I recently mentioned a t-shirt site called Retro Campaigns. They just let me know that they are releasing a new line of shirts called “American Legends.” The designs on these shirts have an even more retro look to them, and feature classic campaigns such as Abraham Lincoln, Theodore Roosevelt, and William Henry Harrison. My favorite of the bunch is the Abraham Lincoln shirt, which I’ve featured to the left.

Retro Campaigns describes the shirts as “big, bold designs incorporating the style of political art of the time” and I think that describes them perfectly. They also mention they are printed on Alternative Apparel’s destroyed shirts which gives them a more authentic look. They plan on adding more to this line and to their classic line as well. This should result in a wide selection of very quality shirts. I am continually surprised by their designs and I’m ready to see more!

Rose & Stephanie from Crywolf wanted me to write about a sale they are running on their newly released Halloween designs. It will only last until the 31st so if you’re interested you’ll need to get there fast as some of the designs are already sold out. They are all limited edition runs (as are all of their designs), so don’t delay!

So what do I think? Their designs have a very unique style which transfer well to shirts. All of their clothing is done by hand and silk-screened by the designers themselves! The tactical decision to do limited runs of their designs lends well to their independent attitude and I hope it pays off for them! In addition to apparel, then also carry decals, magnets, bags, mirrors, and buttons which all carry their original artwork.

“The Island Of Ten Rabbits” is a new shirt design that’s available for voting at Threadless. It’s by Marcin Przybys, who also happens to be a previous winner there. This design is a little different than many of his submissions but I think it’s especially great. It has a very painterly feel to it, and the attention to detail is fantastic. It really makes your imagination run wild. I’ll be keeping an eye on Marcin in the future if this is any indication of what’s to come from him.

I could only find nine rabbits out of the ten hidden, but my girlfriend found the tenth. Can you spot them all?

Helvetica, Myriad, Frutiger, and Futura. That might not mean anything to most people but to artists and designers they can mean a lot. If you haven’t figured it out already they are the names of some common fonts. It’s not the most original idea to put this kind of thing on a shirt, but the implementation is what matters. These shirts from DADADA studio have a crisp clean look that makes them really stand out.

You can choose from many popular fonts and even the legendary saying “The quick brown fox jumps over the lazy dog.” If you’ve never seen that phrase before then take a look at it and try to find a letter in the alphabet that isn’t in it. The main promotional graphic for these shirts is extremely creative as well. It’s a shirt tethered to a running fan, and I’m sure the result came out better than even they expected.

Poor Twitter. According to Despair Inc it is the culmination of all the dirty pleasures the internet fosters. MySpace and Facebook get off a littler lighter, along with TweetStalk which is a service I hadn’t known about until I saw this shirt. The Social Media Venn Diagram shirt is a really clever idea. The colors and they way everything works together really looks great. The tag line, which is not present on the shirt, is funny also: Social Media Unlocking The Awesome Potential Of Behavior Disorders. You could almost use that line to describe the entirety of the internet.

The new Pixar movie Up is coming out tomorrow. It just so happens that it’s my birthday, and in general I’m a big fan of their movies. It is about Carl Fredricksen making his house fly by attaching balloons to it. He then has several adventures with a small child that has accidentally hitched a ride. The boy’s name is Russel and he is featured in several of the designs that are available at the Disney InkShop.

It looks like they are adding more designs to the Up character gallery as the days go on. There are some really nice looking 2d graphics along with the standard 3d characters from the movie. There isn’t time to purchase the shirts before the premiere, but if you like the movie then you know where to buy some apparel to match.

It’s amazing how much emotion an apple with a tear and a frown can evoke from someone. These two little apples have definitely lost someone very dear to them. It’s a shame they can’t see that the dead apple will have a happy time in the afterlife. I wonder if apples have religion.

The shirt is titled “R.I.P.” and it’s by HAHA.sg. It’s very different from his other submissions, and if this is a sign of things to come I’ll be quite happy. I really like the little details of the design like the Xs in place of the eyes and the emotion on each apple’s face. There are 4 more days left to vote, so if you like it then you know what to do.

“Tweet” is a new shirt from Glennz that pokes fun at the latest social networking craze: Twitter. If you’ve been living under a rock for awhile you might not know what Twitter is. In essence it’s a social network focused on short messages sent to anyone that is listening to you. These messages must be 140 characters or less, and are called Tweets.

This shirt pokes fun at the name of the service and the people that are hopelessly addicted. The featured bird has found a more efficient way of contacting its bird brethren, instead of wasting time and energy singing to each other. It’s another excellent design from Glennz, which also happens to user chosen.
